This 18 hole park land course threads its way through magnificent mature trees and provides a challenge that is mastered by few. Its unique Manor Clubhouse is surrounded by a 12th Century moat, occupied by two deceptively serene white swans.

From the moment you catch a glimpse of the historical Club house and its 12th century moat you will be aware that Wigan Golf Club is unique in the Golfing Word.

Arley Hall occupies the site of an old Abbey. In earlier times, it must of been of great importance as the estate was confiscated by King Henry I, only to restored to its rightful owners by King John in the 12th century.

The approach to the hall is over a bridge that occupies the same position as the old drawbridge.

For over a century this enclave of golfing delight, has enchanted many generations, and today's golfers enjoy the new greens manicured to a very high standard. The original 9 hole course dates back to 1898 and the club even celebrated its centenary in its original format. Soon after the clubs centenary land adjacent to the course became available and provided the club with an opportunity to extend the course to 18 holes.

The new course designed by Gaunt and Marnock was opened in 2001 and now provides a wonderful parkland course, framed by mature tress to give you a true test of golf.
