Wigan Juniors - Parents Information

Wigan Juniors

As the parent of a Junior Golfer, it is important to know that your child is receiving a quality experience with golf and that their wellbeing is safeguard when they are participating.

The EGU and ELGA, supported by the England Golf Partnership are continually working to develop Junior golf in England, by creating new schemes and enhancing current resources which all help to improve the provision for Juniors and ensure that their welfare is paramount. Below are just a few of the ways in which the EGU/ELGA are developing junior golf in England.

Child Protection

• Ensure that strategic decisions concerning child protection in golf are managed and   communicated throughout the partnership.

• Ensure that there is a consistent approach to child protection throughout golf.

• For information on chid protection and the CIG Strategy Group visit www.childreningolf.org

Equity

The EGU/ELGA have produced an equity statement and policy, adapted for golf clubs which ensures that no participant should receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, gender, parental or martial status, colour, race, ethnic origin, creed, disability, social status or sexual preference or should be disadvantaged by conditions or requirements that cannot be shown to be relevant to performance.

GolfMark Clubs

The EGU/ELGA GolfMark Award (including Clubmark) is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities – click here for further information.

Junior Organisers' Handbook

The EGU/ELGA produce a Junior Organisers’ Handbook which helps to guide golf clubs on a variety of issues within junior golf – click here for further information.

Initiatives & Resources

Initiatives including the National Skills Challenge and Junior Club Coaching Grant have been designed to provide juniors with coaching opportunities within golf clubs. Resources including posters and booklets have been produced to provide advice to junior players on different areas of the game. Visit the EGU website for further information.
